"Rocky Mountain Autumn"
This section of work is a preview of what I am currently working on. This past September I spent a wonderfully intense time painting more than 30 large watercolors and countless sketches in the mountains and valleys surrounding Vail, Colorado.
It would be impossible to try to copy the spectacular beauty of the hillsides that were so aflame with color. Instead, I hope to present the feeling of the powerful impressions this landscape made on me.
I have started this project using oil painting on paper guilded with white gold or yellow gold. This exploration is going well. The power of the gold is a good match for the power of the fall landscape. I am just now starting to make oil paintings on canvas. I am looking forward to seeing how the luminosity of layers of oil paint will present this theme.
As each new painting is built upon all the previous paintings, I need to hold on to all of the work for a while. So none of the paintings are yet available for sale.
This body of work should be completed by mid-summer and the web site will be updated with new work, sizes, and prices.
